Osvaldo Rodriguez, a native of Guayubin, Dominican Republic, begins his first season in El Paso in 2012. The 5-11, 180 lbs right-hander began his professional career in 2003 and split time with the Los Angeles Dodgers Rookie team, the GCL Dodgers, of the Gulf Coast League, the Class A South Georgia Waves of the South Atlantic League, and the High-A Dodgers affiliate, the Vero Beach Dodgers of the Florida State League. In 2004, Rodriguez competed for the GCL Dodgers before moving up to the Columbus Catfish of the South Atlantic League. After a three year absence from affiliated baseball, Rodriguez signed with the Washington Nationals and played for their Class A team, the Hagerstown Suns of the South Atlantic League before moving up to the High-A team, the Potomac Nationals of the Carolina League in 2008 and in 2009 split time between those two teams. In 2010 and 2011 he competed for the Shreveport-Bossier Captains and in 2010 compiled a record of 11-3 with a 3.50 ERA, allowing just 47 earned runs in 121 innings while striking out 101 and walking 56. His 2010 season cemented him in the Captains record book ranking him second in franchise history for wins in a season, fourth in strikeouts and first in walks allowed. Last season he put together a 5-7 record with a 6.45 ERA in 21 starts at 114.1 innings pitched and struck out 91.
